Itinerary
Explore your day-by-day journey curated by Edgar Adventures local specialists.
Day 1: Uros Floating Islands, Taquile Heritage & Arrival in Luquina Chico
07:00 AM – Hotel Pickup & Departure by Speedboat
Meet your guide and private driver at your central Puno hotel for a transfer to the city dock. Board our modern speedboat and begin cruising across the deep sapphire waters of Lake Titicaca (12,507 ft / 3,812 m).
07:30 AM – Uros Floating Islands: Ancient Reed Architecture
Arrive at the famous floating settlements of the Uros people, one of the oldest ethnic groups in South America. Step onto the spongy totora-reed surfaces and observe the construction of their floating platforms, family dwellings, and lookout towers. Learn how indigenous families anchor and maintain these islands using dense blocks of roots (khili). (Optional rides on hand-woven totora reed boats can be arranged directly with local fishermen).
10:30 AM – Taquile Island: Pre-Inca Stone Trails & UNESCO Textiles
Disembark at Taquile Island and follow a gentle stone trail into the heart of the community. Taquile preserves ancestral Incan social laws and iconic textile traditions recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage Masterpiece. Observe local men deftly knitting intricate wool caps (chullos) and learn the symbolic patterns woven into their calendar belts (chumpis).
After a freshly cooked lunch at a community-run restaurant, walk along panoramic southern pre-Inca pathways down to a secluded sandy beach framed by the snowcapped peaks of the Bolivian Royal Range (Cordillera Real).
03:30 PM – Luquina Chico: Community Welcome & Sunset Dance
Re-board the speedboat and navigate to the southern tip of the Chucuito Peninsula to dock at Luquina Chico. Meet your welcoming Aymara host family and check into your private guest room. Near sunset, join community members for a traditional music and dance gathering overlooking the lake. Enjoy a hearty family dinner prepared with freshly harvested Andean vegetables, potatoes, and native grains.
- Overnight: Luquina Chico Homestay (Private room with comfortable bedding, warm blankets, and private bathroom).
- Meals Included: Lunch on Taquile Island, Farm-to-Table Family Dinner.
Day 2: Rural Aymara Life, Optional Kayaking & Return to Puno

Wake up to sunrise over the bay and enjoy a home-cooked breakfast featuring local eggs, Andean breads, and hot herbal infusions. Join your host family for daily seasonal chores—such as herding sheep, harvesting native potatoes, or baking traditional hearth bread.
Travelers seeking physical activity can opt for a guided mountain hike to the high ridges behind the village for panoramic views across the lake and peninsula.
Optional Adventure: Luquina Shoreline Sea Kayaking
Add an open-water adventure to your morning. Launching directly from Edgar Adventures’ fully equipped kayak base camp on the Luquina shore, paddle along scenic cliffs and calm bays on the world’s highest navigable lake. Guided by a certified specialist and accompanied by a motorized safety support boat.
12:30 PM – Traditional Farewell Lunch
