Leave behind the commercial tourist ferries aboard Lake Titicaca’s first luxury lounge motorboat. Designed for travelers seeking an authentic encounter with Peru’s high-altitude cultures, Titicaca Uncovered is a meticulously crafted 1-day expedition across the world’s highest navigable lake.
By reversing traditional schedules and sailing beyond standard tourist corridors, this tour connects you with the living traditions of Taquile Island, ancestral gastronomy on the Capachica Peninsula, and the genuinely preserved floating reed communities of the Lake Titicaca National Reserve.
- Advantages:
- Small Group Tour on a Premium Boat: Travel comfortably with only 15–20 guests in a spacious speed motorboat, unlike standard tours that crowd 35 to 50 passengers into the same vessel size.

Titicaca Uncovered: Deluxe Small-Group Day Tour
07:00 AM – Central Puno Hotel Pickup & Panoramic Departure
Your morning begins with a pickup from your central Puno accommodation and a direct transfer to the private embarkation pier. Step aboard our modern high-speed lounge boat and settle into panoramic seating as the twin engines carry you out into the deep sapphire waters of Lake Titicaca (3,812 m / 12,507 ft).
Shortly after departure, enjoy our signature onboard culinary presentation: “Peru’s History in Flavors.” This curated tasting introduces high-altitude Andean grains, native cheeses, local accompaniments, and warm herbal infusions designed to assist with altitude acclimatization.
08:30 AM – Taquile Island: UNESCO Textile Masters & Hidden Coastal Trails
Disembark on the secluded northern shore of Taquile Island. Isolated from outside influences for centuries, Taquile preserves an egalitarian community structure where weaving and knitting are woven into every aspect of civic life. Proclaimed by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, Taquile’s textile craftsmanship is practiced exclusively by men starting in early childhood.
Meet local community leaders, observe ancient hand-spinning techniques on drop spindles, and learn to read the calendar belts (chumpis) that chronicle local history. Afterward, take a scenic walk along an intact pre-Inca stone trail bordered by flowering cantuta plants and agricultural terraces. The pathway provides 360-degree views of the lake and the snowcapped peaks of Bolivia’s Cordillera Real before descending to a quiet sandy cove.
11:45 AM – Capachica Peninsula & The Ancestral Pachamanca Ceremony
Re-board our lounge boat and cruise toward the tip of the Capachica Peninsula, docking at the rural community of Santa María. Receive an authentic greeting with traditional panpipe music and flower garlands from community elders.
Gather around the ceremonial pit to witness the unearthing of your lunch: a traditional Andean Pachamanca. This pre-Columbian cooking ritual uses volcanic rocks heated red-hot in an underground oven to roast marinated chicken, native Andean tubers (including papa nativa, oca, and camote), broad beans, and local corn seasoned with native herbs like huacatay and chincho.
Savor your meal overlooking the peninsula’s tranquil shoreline, followed by a guided visit to the Titicaca Navigators Interpretation Center to discover ancestral totora-reed shipbuilding and early high-plateau maritime trade.
02:00 PM – Lake Titicaca National Reserve: The Remote Uros Titino Islands
Navigate deep into the protected totora reed beds of the Lake Titicaca National Reserve to reach the remote floating settlements of Uros Titino and Ccapi. While tourism around Puno has changed life on the nearer reed islands, the families of Titino continue hunting lake fowl, fishing carachi and kingfish, and living on hand-built reed platforms anchored to the lake floor.
Walk on the springy totora floor, learn the complex engineering required to harvest roots (khili) and weave fresh reed layers every few weeks, and hear ancestral stories in the native Aymara tongue. (Optional rides on traditional totora reed boats are available directly through the community).
04:10 PM – 04:30 PM – Scenic Cruise & Puno Hotel Return
Board the lounge boat for a high-speed cruise back across Puno Bay. Relax indoors or take in the afternoon light from the observation deck before docking at Puno’s main port, where private ground transport awaits to return you to your hotel.
