Experience the traditional Andean culture at the Aymaran community of Luquina on the peninsula of Chucuito at lake Titicaca to 25 kilometers from Puno by boat, It is for sure one of the best of the beaten track destinations were responsible, sustainable and fair tourism had come true, in partnership with Edgar Adventures (read , sustainability & about us.). Definitively a great combination.

Day 01. - Taquile Island / Luquina

Early depart by motor boat to Taquile Island, after 2 hours 30 minutes, while we get lectures about the origins of the Inca culture, Quechua language lessons & more. Get to this unique place by the south section of the island (10.30 am), the less visited zone of Taquile Island. Have at least 4 hours to explore this paradise, there enjoy of a pristine sandy beach. And hike for 1 hour by a pre-inca path way (soft and gradual hike) with impressive landscapes, Lunch at local restaurant. The members of the community will show us their dances, textiles and unique cultural expressions. Later at 1.50 pm approximately, we hike to the main port and descent about 500 steps down to the dock. At 2.30pm we depart to continue our journey onto Luquina community at the Peninsula of Chucuito, there we are welcome by its friendly inhabitants, and get accommodated at a local family house home stay, have some time to learn about the local culture. In the afternoon optional hike to the top of the mountain for sunset, by night and after dinner enjoy of a small celebration with traditional music and dances. (D)

Day 02. - Luquina / Uros reed islands

Breakfast at the home stay then we say good bye to our local host family and by motor boat head onto de reed banks at the national reserve of Lake Titicaca there visit two reed floating islands, we step on then, observe the houses, reed boats it is just amazing to see an entire floating village with its thatched reed roofs, optional reed boat rides can be arranged with the local fishermen later continue to Puno by motor boat arriving at 1pm approximately, with the chance to take other optional excursions or to continue by bus to Arequipa nor Cusco.
