An upgraded variation of the Classic 2 day Amantani Island trip, A trip thought to avoid the crowds, by doing the itinerary on Reverse. First visiting the unspoiled south section of Taquile Island, later on Amantani Island became a direct participant of the local culture and not being just an observer. So be prepared to walk with the local family to the potatoes fields to farm or just learn some ancient textile skills. On the next day visit the famous Uros reed island at a time the crowds are gone. Visiting the 3 different islands included in this trip will give you a wide perspective of life in Lake Titicaca. The use of a semi fast boat saves time and visitors don’t miss anything, making of it a relaxed Lake Titicaca tour.

Tour Description:
Day 1: Taquile Island / Amantani.
Enjoy Lake Titicaca, authentic culture & traditions. This excursion begins at 7:00 am with transfer from your hotel to the port. Then by Semi – Fast motor boat ( 7:30 am. depart ) , that will make of this a enjoyable journey (35 feet long with a covered section in case of rain or cold weather, comfortable bus type seats and fully equipped, WC).
We get a 2 hour boat ride strait to Taquile Island while we get lectures about the origins of the Inca culture, Quechua language lessons & more. At arrival we have the chance to enjoy the spectacular views offered by Lake Titicaca, get to this unique place, by the south section of the island (09.45 am), the less visited zone of Taquile Island. Have at least 4 hours to explore this paradise, there enjoy of a pristine sandy beach. And hike for 1 hour by a pre-inca path way (soft and gradual hike) with impressive landscapes, while we learn about the flora and fauna of the island. Lunch at local restaurant. The members of the community will show us their dances, textiles and unique cultural expressions. Taquile Island is the home for an authentic community that conserves Incan laws and social system. But due to an inadequate tourism management is being affected and this trip helps to encourage the community life. Later at 1.50 pm approximately, we hike to the main port and descent about 500 steps down to the dock. At 2.30pm we depart to continue our journey onto Amantani Island, (55 minutes motor boat ride). When we get to Amantani Island. You will probably see local families running down the hill to welcome you.
There you meet to your designated family, (designated by the local administration according to a rotational system, that we are committed to respect). By small path ways they lead you to the home stay. Feel free to participate in the cooking with them. After lunch they will take you in a deep cultural encounter with the daily life issues. Depending on the season they might be farming, herding or building a house. If you have the commitment, go ahead and be part of it. (This part of the trip is carefully arranged, and prepared by you experience guide, to make of it an authentic experience).
Optional football match, then a hike to the high point of the island to watch the sunset. At dinner your designated family will dress you up in traditional local costumes and take you to the community hall for a small celebration, it is a lot of fun! Fell the energy of this live culture. Day 2: Amantani / Uros reed islands / Puno
Enjoy Breakfast with our designated family, later at 8:15am. The group leaves Amantani Island to head onto the incredible reed floating Islands. After a pleasant motor boat ride of 2 hours 30 minutes we visit the Uros Islands. Stepping on them feels very much like a water bed (but it is quite safe). We see the houses, the islands and meet its friendly inhabitants .Uros people are descendents of one of the oldest South American groups. Rides on traditional reed boats can be arranged with the local fishermen. Visit two of the 30 islands, then share an intercultural activity with the locals, see their houses, and learn about the construction of the reed floating islands. Later continue to Puno arriving at 12:45pm approximately. Transfer to your elected hotel.
Note 1: For an additional cost of only $US 5.00 we can organize a delicious picnic lunch over the reed islands , it consist of Avocado, Andean cheese, bread of the region, jam, tomatoes, cucumbers and more. So you don’t lose time for lunch on Puno City.

Note 3: The tour arrives back In Puno at 13:00 pm. Then there is the chance to take other excursions like the one departing to Sillustani and see impressive pre Incan buildings amongst superb landscapes, nor continue by Bus to Cusco or Arequipa, nor just time to wonder around the city.
